Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER PAIRING?

Getting matched with an accountability partner involves forming a partnership with another member, where you mutually agree to coach each other, provide feedback and hold each other accountable on a regular basis.

When you decide to hold yourself accountable to another person, it’s crucial that you make an intentional decision to let go of the negative thoughts and limiting beliefs that are holding you back. Accept the fact that your future and your results are in your hands!

There are no requirements for how you should work with your accountability partner, that will depend on your mutual schedules, preferences and styles. Just make sure to set a regular schedule for checking in with each other.

You might want to plan weekly or monthly calls, but you might also find that simply texting each other and staying in touch regularly is also a great way to stay connected and on track. Be open to working with someone from a different industry, who can bring a new or unique perspective to your business.

DO I NEED TO FIND A NEW ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER EVERY MONTH?

This is completely up to you and your partner to decide!

If you both feel you’ve found your perfect match, then there’s absolutely no need to switch to a new partner. The longer your partnership goes on, the more beneficial and rewarding it will become!

If you feel that you would prefer to work with a different member, then let your partner know, and feel free to sign up to be re-matched with a new partner.

HOW WE STRUCTURE OUR CONVERSATIONS?

● Your session with an accountability partner is just like having your own two-person mastermind, except you get more time to talk over your issues and you will receive more personalized feedback.

● Create a joint agenda prior to your calls, allowing dedicated time slots to go through everything you’d like to cover.

● Make sure you both get a chance to update the other on your progress, your wins, the challenges you’re facing, and any work you’d like to receive feedback on.

● Once you’ve reviewed your progress and shared your wins, it’s time to commit to your accountability plan with a list of what you will both work on achieving in time for your next call.

● At the end of the call, confirm the date and time of your next catch-up and make sure it is scheduled in your calendar.

HOW DO WE STAY ACCOUNTABLE?

● Commit to showing up to every accountability call with your partner, even if you have not managed to achieve what you set out to do.

● At the end of every call, set the goals, come up with the strategies or list the actions that you will both aim to implement in time for your next call.

● Make a commitment to yourself and to your partner to do your utmost to achieve your goals in that period of time.

● Avoid getting overwhelmed by overcommitting to an unrealistic schedule. Make sure your goals follow the PACT acronym:

  • Are your goals Possible?

  • Are your goals Actionable?

  • Are your goals Clear?

  • Do your goals have a Time-bound deadline?

HOW DO I BUILD BEING AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER INTO MY SCHEDULE?

● During your first call, set expectations around your availability, the frequency that you will commit to checking in with each other, the length of the sessions, and the platform you will choose to connect through (Skype/Zoom/Facebook, etc.).

● Decide together on dates and times that work for both of your schedules. Your check-in doesn’t need to take long, even 15 minutes and an informal chat can sometimes help you both stay accountable and generate results.

● In between your check-in calls, schedule the time to complete the action plan you have agreed with your partner.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO BE A GREAT ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER?

● Schedule every accountability call into your calendar and avoid changing or canceling your sessions less than 24 hours beforehand, unless you really have to. Remember that we all have obligations and busy schedules, so make sure to respect this time you have mutually agreed to dedicate to each other’s progress!

● Show up to your accountability calls with positive energy and a willingness to provide help and constructive feedback to your partner.

● If you decide not to continue working with your matched partner, make sure to let them know.
