FAQs

  • People are drawn to MOTHERboard Society™ because of its focus on building a community for working moms and its generous warmth and support for its members. On a basic level, women are connecting with each other, finding friends for their children, swapping ideas, exchanging information, and combating some of the loneliness and isolation they sometimes feel as mothers.

  • Chapter membership fees are meant to be supplemented. Since MOTHERboard Society™ Chapters (MBSC) are nationwide, membership fees cover operational costs that include but are not limited to media and publicity, special guests, membership processing, professional services such as legal and tax preparers, liability insurance, marketing and promotions, email, and newsletters, marketing materials, National/Regional Conferences, National Community Service Initiative programming, great staff team to support you, and other national operating expenses.

  • No. MOTHERboard Society™ is a community heavily focused on the mom. As such, most of our activities are geared toward moms and not children. Of course, children are our world, and chapters are encouraged to sponsor activities for the children throughout the year.

  • On a local level, members communicate via email and during monthly connections. All chapters have their own Facebook group and email discussion groups for further information and discussion. On a national level, MOTHERboard Society™publishes an online newsletter that sends periodic updates and hosts email discussion groups among chapter and regional leaders. MOTHERboard Society™ also has a loyal Instagram following of 13,000+ fans, over 1200 followers on Facebook, a presence on LinkedIn, and an email database of over 2,000.

  • Local chapters are led by two Co-Presidents and usually operate under three main components: Monthly Connections, Community Initiatives, Member Expert Learning Sessions, Headquater-led events

    Monthly connections: these are moms-only get-togethers or outings for moms to socialize without their children, listen to guest speakers, and discuss topics of interest;

    Community Initiatives: to "give back" to the community and help those in need. Each local chapter will conduct two community initiatives a year. The chapter members choose these initiatives.

    Member Expert Learning Sessions: These quarterly mentor meetings/sessions are led by members, giving allowing them to teach the MOTHERboard Society™ Chapter (MBSC) members and others about that given topic.

    Headquarters also provide events, masterclasses seminars, initiatives, and giveaways opened exclusive for all chapters throughout the year.

  • Online support and online communities can be a wonderful addition to your chapter's services. Technology has put seeking and providing online connections and information at every mother's fingertips.  In fact, hundreds of websites exist that provide online communities for mothers.  However, MBC was not designed or intended to be simply an online communication tool or resource.  The power, strength, uniqueness, and beauty of MOTHERboard Society™ lies within and is dependent upon the strength, vitality, and creativity of the activities sponsored by the local chapters within the organization.

    When local chapter members meet in person regularly, and host initiatives that benefit their communities, more mothers will learn about and join the organization.  Further, we live in a transient society. Mothers regularly relocate with their husbands and children to regions of the country where they have no friends and no relatives. Women become the first among their friends to have a baby and they find themselves in need of "mommy friends" who can relate to this mothering season of life.  Mothers start new or non-traditional careers and ventures that alter their schedules and impact their existing friendship circles.  These ladies are seeking live, in-person connections and friendships that can't be satisfied online.  The job of the local chapter leadership team is to make a local MOTHERboard Society™ community easy to find for those seeking it and to continue to make it visible so that the next generation of working mothers will be able to find it in the future.

  • The MBS Chapter age minimum is 21 years old and you must be a working or entrepreneur mother. However, we do not have an age maximum. We believe that as long as interested working momma share our mission, goals and come with an open heart and mind, then they belong here at MBS.

  • Members will receive emails and newsletters about upcoming events with pertinent information, such as access codes, locations, etc.

  • If your city is not listed it either means that a Chapter is full or does not exist at this time.

    If it doesn’t exist yet, go to Request A Chapter to start. If you are interested in taking on the role of Chapter President, or simply requesting a Chapter in your city, please fill out appropriate forms, which can be found under the “Chapters” tab on our website.

  • MOTHERboard Society™ chapters participate in a wide range of initiatives, from providing clothing and food to needy families, collecting school supplies for students in need to giving gifts to children of incarcerated parents—MOTHERboard Society™ is committed to giving back to our communities. These community service initiatives are chosen by each individual chapter according to the community's need.
